The Secret To Choosing The Perfect Karaoke Song For Live Gigging by Rachel Patterson

One of the most important things to remember when you are live, on stage, performing before an audience, accompanied by the karaoke machine is, sing a song which suits your vocals. Many people make the mistake, by choosing the most popular song on the hit-parade, at the time and do not consider whether their voice lends credibility to the way it sounds when they are singing it. This is when having the songs on a karaoke player at home, will help you to choose the ones for you.

Choosing a song which has a very high-pitch sound to it, when your voice is lower, will not work for you at all. Your range of singing, will determine the correct song for you to attempt to sing, before a live audience. Your range is important too, so you won't be trying to sing all over the place, when you ca not get past one octave. You need to recognize and simply not do something that is out of your range. You want to be able to enjoy singing, and you will want the people who are listening, to not be tempted to walk out either. If you are singing along and are nervous about the note that you know is difficult for you to sing, in the privacy of your home, then how much more trying it will be for you, in that live performance. That would be the biggest mistake you could possibly make.

Another thing to consider, do not sing a slow ballad, unless you can handle it well. Most often the slow ones are apt to put the audience to sleep, if not performed the best. You should choose something which has some more life to it, so the audience will want to start clapping their hands to the beat. If this happens, then you will know that you did indeed pick the right song after all. An up-beat tune would be the best choice, so you will see people even getting to their feet and beginning to dance to the song. How much fun would that be for you to see happen. People are out to have a good time, so the right song needs careful consideration.

You need all the confidence that you can muster, when performing before a room full of people. If you are not that familiar with the song, then that would be the ultimate faux pas. That is why you should know the words, (except the television screen which has the words), but you still do not want to stumble over the words. Nothing is worse when you are part of the people listening, to hear someone forget the words, or in this case, not read them right. It becomes a bit of a joke after awhile.

If you are so familiar with the words, that you do not have to follow the screen, then this is a great boost for your singing. People like it when you are looking at them, instead of at the monitor all the time.
